A Little About Us
Hobby Gone Wild:
In 1999, Daniel Johnson bought his first "barrel" smoker and, unbeknownst to him, began his quest toward being an award winning barbeque restaurant owner. Starting out with burning cheap cuts of meat (and having to settle on fast food for the evening), Daniel soon began to find that he had a knack for preparing and cooking some of the best barbeque that he and his friends had ever eaten, including coming up with his own rub, sauces and baked beans.
Daniel soon found himself entered into barbeque competitions..... and turning out award winning 'que!
A couple of years went by and he realized that his passion for smokin' meat was getting stronger and the results of that passion were starting to be enjoyed and requested by more than family, friends and competition judges. What he found was that word of mouth is a powerful thing and he started getting numerous requests to cater parties, shows and events, so......... Smokin' In Style BBQ, Inc. was born.
The Growing Years:
From here things started to get crazy! Smokin' In Style quickly went from catering 6 events per year, with one 22' concession trailer, to 25+ shows and events per year, with the addition of a 42' fully equipped catering and concession trailer to help keep up. Having a full-time accounting job during the week, Daniel soon realized that he couldn't do it all and began soliciting help from his siblings and other family members
In 2004, Daniel decided it was time to go into the restaurant business. With the help and support of his family and friends, Smokin' In Style BBQ, Inc. was opened in October of 2004.
To this day, Smokin' In Style continues to be a family ran business by employing his brother Joe on his management team and family members around the restaurant......some of the same people that helped Smokin' In Style BBQ, Inc. become successful.
Where we're going:
Although no one can really predict where their successes will take them, Daniel has a pretty solid grasp on where his ambitions and goals are leading Smokin' In Style BBQ, Inc. We will leave those ambitions for another chapter........but would love to hear from you if you are an entreprenuer and would like information on getting into the BBQ business! ;-)
